My son (16m) has decided he hates my boyfriend

Ok so, backstory. My ex left when my son was super young and he has no memory of his biological father at all. My boyfriend loves my son and my son up until recently has loved him just as much. We don’t live together yet but we hope to start laying out plans to move in the new year.My boyfriend is the father figure I had hoped my ex would be for my son, he is loving, patient, and totally respectful. I have never forced any parenting aspect onto him but he has come to love my child as his own. My son is usually very excited to see him when we are all out together but lately he has been a holy terror. I have recently started a full time job and he has been put in daycare part time, in addition I have started to see some tantrums independently springing up from him but this behavior towards my boyfriend has me stumped. The past two or three times we have been out together my son has been extremely rough with him, pushing him away, and visibly upset whenever we display affection (hand holding). I’m confused and while it would be a tough personal shift I would consider stopping seeing my boyfriend if me dating him was causing my son development or psychological distress. Is trying to stick this out hoping it’s just a phase the wrong call in this situation? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2NdxJDQ
