Do you think political views influence the way people parent?

Something I have been musing about for a while. I grew up in a conservative area of the U.S (Texas) and moved to a more liberal area (California) for college and moved back to Texas when my oldest was 5.There are a lot of parenting differences between the two areas and I was wondering how much has to do with the difference in politics. Are liberal voters more liberal in their parenting? Are libertarian voters libertarian in their parenting? Are conservative voters more conservative in their parenting? Do you think political views translate to parenting style? If so, in what ways do you see this?This isn't meant to start any debate about politics.
