My daughter was born two weeks ago. When my wife and I took her in for her weight check on Thursday we brought up that her left eye had been a bit gooey every time she wakes up. They took a swab and just recommended a basic antibiotic ointment. No big deal. Fast forward to Friday afternoon and I get a call from the doctor saying the swab is showing gram negative, and to get my daughter to the hospital right away.So we get here and they immediately take us back, say gram negative could be a sign of meningitis, gonnorhea, and a billion other terrifying things. They draw blood and do a spinal tap on my poor little girl. My wife and I are in tears just sitting in the hospital room. Now we're here for two days at least while they run a bunch of tests and give her antibiotics through a tube.I hate seeing my daughter like this. If anyone has had any experience with this kind of thing, I would appreciate some advice. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2AAqoqn
