I live with my girlfriend [35 F] and kids ages 4, 9, 16. My girlfriend is 100% against me seeing him due to safety concerns for the kids.It's been over 10 years since I last saw him. He's avoided the entire family for that long and ended up not only having many breaks and going in and out of hospital, but also has started having problems with law enforcement over the past two years. All charges have been dropped due to his illness, but there are some alarming violent charges involved. Of course I don't know the details of what happened and he claims the jail guards attacked and raped him and then he was charged because he fought back, and they will be looking into filling charges against the jail. There's also an incident between him and my father about 15 years ago when he took a swing at my father and there was a lot of tension between them.Regardless, I finally after 10 years talked on the phone to him recently a few times and the forced meds at the jail psychiatric ward had him sounding great and very clear headed. Unfortunately he has a history of going off them, and he will be staying with our mom who isn't a big fan of them and is into Eastern Medicine. She even works for an acupuncturist in fact.My mom lives only 3 blocks away. My girlfriend is freaking out and has threatened to take the kids away if I go over to see him. I really miss my brother and want to see him and he really wants to see me. But the last time he was living with her after getting released from jail for other charges things got scary for my mom since they released him to her with only a 3 day supply of meds and as a result he deteriorated so quickly that he refused any help of any kind as he grew more and more nasty towards my mom, even threatening to kill her dog at one point. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2m57Vhp
