My son loves Curious George on PBS. This episode saw George having to rescue the Man in the Yellow Hat from a cliff in the national park. A young man trapped with tMitYH held up a branch and said, "Did you know many parts of a tree are edible?" This was a reference to a 1970's Grape Nuts commercial which, save for a high school Spanish teacher using it as his catch phrase, would have flown over my head.As parents I think we're all appreciative when our kids' media have jokes and shout outs to us but this was the first thing I could recognize as specifically for the GRANDparents. The cynical part of me thinks PBS + Jokes for older people = $$$ at donation drive time but the part of me that wants the world to be a good place for my son to grow up in thinks that a lot of grandparents give free childcare to their grandkids and deserve some writer throwing them a bone.
