Obviously family comes before work, but it seems something is always coming up with wife or kids thats causing me to rearrange my work schedule at the last minute. Feeling like a bad employee and a bad husband/dad.


I work at a retail store, so there is some schedule flexibility, but lately things are happening left and right and I keep needing to change my work schedule. I feel like it's getting on my boss' nerves. And I get it. The store is running a business and I have a schedule to follow.The last 2 weeks I've had to make last minute changes and now my wife (sahm) has the flu and I need to rearrange again to be home with the kids. Im not worried about being fired, we are a union, but I am worried about my reputation. I've always been a dependable employee.I know I need to put my family first, but I'm just feeling like a bad employee for calling in and feeling like a bad dad and husband for wanting to maintain my work reputation.
