Update - Recently learned that I have a teenage son, and he hates me.

I removed my original post (I don't know why, to be honest). You can still see the comments here - http://ift.tt/1Mu2t1m. Basically, I got a call one day that I had a 14 y/o son. Long story short, he is living with his aunt. His mother is out of the picture. He was always lashing out at me over the phone and refused to meet me.I thought it would be good to provide an update for all those who posted advice. Nothing big has happened, but there has been progress. I started writing letters as a lot of you have suggested, just talking about whatever. He never writes back, but the phone calls have continued and he has softened up. We can actually have a nice conversation, most of the time.He still doesn't want to see me, but I think that's okay for now. I don't think he hates me, he just hates the situation he's in. It turns out his mom has been AWOL since he was a toddler, so its not like he grew up thinking bad things about me. He's working a lot, even though I give his aunt money to take care of him. He seems to hate the idea of being dependent on anyone. All in all, things have been going okay. Thanks everyone for your help. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2aBboxa
