We have yet to touch the summer assignments. We still have to buy uniforms, supplies, backpacks, or to even look at the lists. This is not what is bothering me. I don't dread getting a bad teacher or the homework. What I dread most about another year of school is the birthday invitations. My older daughter has constant invitations, constant parties to attend, constant presents to purchase and an endless stream of new parents to meet and try to find common ground with. Having two children, this would be pretty time consuming and expensive.I would welcome this encroachment on my time and expense with open arms. However, this is not a problem for us because my younger daughter has autism. We don't have double the parties to go to. We don't have double the gifts to buy. I have only met the other parents of children in her class at school events.Instead of the added expense, we have to provide added comfort when she tells us that the child must have forgotten her invitation or gets upset with me because I forgot to take her to a party last weekend (that she was never invited to) that all of her classmates were talking about. We get to buy extra tissues to wipe her tears because she is starting to understand that it was not an innocent error that she didn't receive the invitation. Please, please try to include these kids on your invitation lists. It really would have a huge impact on their lives to be able to be included. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2a1lNAx
