Daycare Dilemma

We're struggling with a daycare decision and I'd love some input! LO (one year old) is currently at a Primrose school that's far from the new home we just moved into. We looked for a daycare closer to home and found one. We got on the waiting list and he's set to enroll on September 18.We like the new school a lot. It's cheaper and smaller, and has a less corporate feel. However, they have some very strict policies about sick kids and biting that worry me (or, at least stricter than we're used to). The biting one is especially worrisome- if your kid bites three times, they reserve the right to dismiss him or her. That seems extreme for a class of young toddlers! My kid has bitten another kid twice, and has been bitten twice himself. I called to confirm the policy. The owner basically said that they have followed through on that policy before, but it's not like it's an automatic three strikes you're out situation. It depends on the kid, their development, and the family. LO is generally sweet and well behaved, so I think he will respond quickly to correction. I also wonder if the policy is there to help them get rid of families they don't think are working out? I know for a fact they are picky about who they let in, while Primrose gives a spot to anyone who can pay.I should note that DH does pick up and drop off, and Primrose is out of the way, but not super far from his work. But it would be challenging when he travels for work, which would be a handful of times a month. I already have a 40 minute commute, and taking LO to Primrose would add another 30 minutes on to that. I could possibly work from home sometimes on the days I have to do drop off, and my MIL can do pick ups, but still. Here's the pros and cons as I see them.Current school (Primrose) Pros: He's established there and is doing well; Food provided; Laid back policies Cons: Much further from home; $400 more a month; High turnover; corporate feelNew school Pros: Great outdoor play area; music lessons, art room and gardening; cheaper; closer to home; teachers seem really engaged but it's not like I can be sure of that Cons: Biting policy; strict sick kid policy; Lunch not providedThank you in advance for any insight you can provide! via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2evwxiM
