Teen son wants long hair, but doesn't want to take the time to brush it.

Am I wrong to want him to cut it?My son is in 7th grade and just turned 13. He decided at the beginning of this school year that he was going to grow his hair out. Fine. I didn't love the idea, but I didn't object to it either. He started growing his hair out and it is now pretty long. The problem is that he refuses to take care of it. He doesn't brush it and barely conditions it. It looks like a birds nest most of the time.I generally don't consider hair to be the hill to die on (I let my youngest so get a mohawk last year), but this is really annoying me.
