My daughter (6yo) is having trouble with reading and is generally experiencing a lot of anxiety around not knowing the right answer.Example: when reading together, she only wants to read the passages that she's already memorized, and gets upset when I try to have her sound words out.Another example: we started piano lessons, which she thoroughly enjoys, but recently she hasn't wanted to go, and the teacher was able to tease out that she's upset because she can't get her fingers to act independently (even though she's doing well with everything else and genuinely has fun at the lesson).I feel like the root cause is a feeling of embarrassment from not being able to get the right answer or be perfect every time. But I have no idea how to go about easing her anxiety.(Side note: she is incredibly sensitive about certain things. For example, if we say, "watch out" (for a puddle or something she might run into), she freaks out, sometimes going into a crying spell. We've managed to reword things to avoid freak-outs ("take small steps" if it's slippery, or "take small bites" if food is hot), but certain phrases still continue to trigger her.) via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2meEomf
