Hey there. I've got my 1.5 year old in a daycare that is highly rated and NAEYC accredited. When we got off the waitlist in a mere 2 months, I felt incredibly lucky. However, I haven't been very happy with the daycare and am now thinking about putting my daughter in a new one. I don't know anyone with kids in daycare, and no one in my immediate family has ever used daycare so I'm not sure if my expectations are too high and hope you guys can tell me if I'm being anal or if there is a better daycare out there for me.Here's the things I haven't liked: 1. Bite when she was ~11m. The ratio in that room is supposed to be 1:3, she is a loud crier, and the bite was very obvious. Nobody told us about it, and they tried to brush it off at first as if it didn't happen. When they looked and saw very obvious bite marks, a teacher came forward and said she may have been bit, but didn't think so. The teacher was rude/off-putting through the whole experience. 2. They're beyond the NAEYC caregiver to child ratio every time I drop my daughter off. Sometimes they beyond state ratios and I stay until another teacher comes in. 3. Turnover seems high. She's been at the school for 8 months and has had 4 teachers (2 from her first class, 2 from the second) leave in that time. 4. Half of the teachers seem really nice and engaged, the other half seem on edge and not happy to be there. 5. They're closed a ton. On top of bank holidays, they're closed 1.5 weeks for Christmas, all of spring break, a week in summer, and 4 times a year for teacher training. There are things I like too (director is nice, half of the teachers are really awesome, they spend most of their time outside, etc.), but the negatives have started outweighing the positives.Should I start looking for other day cares or should I reset my expectations? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2mJPTQs
