Part-time Daycare before returning to work full time

I was looking for some opinions from anyone that might be able to help. I am incredibly lucky that I work in a school district that allowed me to take maternity leave for the remainder of the previous school year and this current school year for child rearing leave, so when I go back to work in September my sons will be almost 18 months old. When I return to work they will be put into daycare (we aren't sure where yet) from about 6:30/7am until 3/3:30pm. I am starting to worry that suddenly going from being home with mom all day every day for 18 months to 5 days a week at daycare will be a very difficult transition for them. My husband and I were talking about possibly seeing if we could put them in daycare for maybe 2 days a week for a few hours in the weeks leading up to me returning to work so that they will be familiar with the school and the routine of "going to school". Since I've not been working though, we don't have a lot of money to throw around but if it's worth doing this, we will definitely start rearranging finances to make it happen. That's why I'm asking now, so we could start looking and budgeting early.Does this sound like something that would be worthwhile? Has anyone else done something like this? Or am I overthinking how "traumatic" starting daycare would be for them at that age? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2jHTJf8
