Last night reminded me why I love being a parent

The past year has been ROUGH! Tons of colds mixed with ear infections, ear tubes needed, very little sleep as my youngest continues to struggle with sleeping through the night. Just general parental exhaustion. I would often whine to my co-workers, who don't have children, about my "trials and tribulations" and envy their carefree, childless lifestyles. Then, the holidays arrived. I have been having soooo much fun preparing costumes, going to pumpkin patches and halloween stores, and volunteering to do art projects at the daycare. Last night was the icing on the cake! My husband and I met up with some friends to go trick or treating in this really neat area in our town that goes all out with decorating. It was so fun watching my 4 year old walking with her pumpkin bucket full of candy in one hand and holding her best friend's hand with the other. I got to take my 2 year old trick or treating for the first time and oh gosh just seeing his face light up when he saw characters he recognized, saw decorations he liked, or when someone dropped candy in his bucket. I love hearing their little voices say, "MOMMY LOOK LOOK!!" Just watching the two of them laugh and smile and run from house to house having the time of their lives...nothing can beat that. So, for all the hours of sleep lost. For all the vacations that could have been. For all of the restaurants that will have to wait. For all of the "Sorry guys. We'll have to hangout another time." For all the ruined clothes. The poop, the pee, the 3am vomit. I'll take ALL of that just to see the smiles on my monster's faces. Being a parents is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2fa6H05
