Previous post: https://ift.tt/2NqgNgP is two weeks since the accident. I took him to a different hospital on Thursday, one that specializes in children's injuries, thinking maybe they can work some magic. They examined his mouth, had him do some mouth/lip exercises, etc. They asked him why he wouldn't eat, why he was scared to eat (he thought he would choke, plus he said his mouth felt weird). The nurse asked him if he would try to eat something for her. He said he would try some oatmeal. It didn't work, he barely got any in his mouth, and spit and gagged the rest out.I bought some kids yogurt smoothies and he did drink them. In fact he drank about 8 yesterday, but they're only 50 calories each, but it's the most his little body has had in almost two weeks. This morning I took him to Chuck-e-Cheese's and afterwards stopped at Jack in the Box to get my wife and I some lunch. On the way home he kept saying how good everything smelled, and how much he was going to eat when his mouth healed. Just this morning I practically begged him to eat some apple sauce, anything, but he refused. When we got home, he found out I bought some egg rolls, and he started eating it! He took little bites, and chewed just like he did before he hurt his mouth. Now he's eating my wife's cheeseburger! I asked the doctor at the hospital how long he could go without eating, and he said that he would eat before he starved. I guess he was right, the poor guy had to have been so hungry, even though he denied it.I am so unbelievably happy for him, and he is so excited. I hope this isn't just an isolated event. It's been two weeks of stress and anxiety and I am just so happy.Big thanks for all the suggestions in my previous post! via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/32VdLVt
