An April Fools parenting story gone wrong.

This story occurred four years ago. Background: my wife and I got married in April of 2015, bought a house that summer, and had decided to start trying to get pregnant around Christmas. I thought of it as “removing the goalie and we’ll see what happens,” but by February she had an ovulation tracking app and was in full-on “we are making a baby dammit, get with the program” mode. Still no success as of April 1st, so...My wife is getting ready to leave work and drive home when she decides to send a group text to all of her family (mom, dad, brother, uncles, etc) and me, the husband, that says “I’m pregnant!!! OMG!!!”Needless to say, I freak out a bit, and then I get pissed off that she decided to tell me in a group text with her family instead of in person, first. I call her up and she laughs and tells me it’s just an April Fools joke. Meanwhile congratulatory texts are pouring in from her family, who are going bananas, because it’s not only the first grandchild for her parents but the first member of the new generation in all of her mom’s side of the family. When she gets home (she had a 45 minute commute), she realizes this may not have been the best April Fools joke, seeing as this has sent her family into ecstatic shock and her husband is still sort of angry and confused. So she sends the obligatory “April Fools” text that is met with mixed reactions ranging from “haha got us” to confusion to genuine anger that they had been fooled. She’s got a great and quirky sense of humor that I love, but she was beginning to understand that she went a little too far.But then she realizes that she hasn’t actually tested in a few days. So she goes into the bathroom and emerges 5 minutes later with the positive test kit. That’s when I burst out laughing... it was too absurd to handle. We eventually hugged and got all excited and stuff, but then we had to wait the appropriate number of weeks before we told everybody... and then told them the real story behind the April Fools text. And that’s how we found out we were going to be parents.TL;DR 4 years ago my wife sent an April Fools text to her family about being pregnant before she realized she hadn’t tested that day and actually was pregnant. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/340snog
