I've spent the last few weekends purging our house of unnecessary stuff. I asked my 8b to go through his toys and decide which ones he no longer needed, and I told him that we could probably sell some of them at a garage sale.He decided that 95% of the toys were no longer needed. Then he told me that he doesn't want to sell them -- he just wants to donate them to a children's shelter. While I'm touched by his generosity, I'm always sad that he's clearly moved past the toy stage in his life.I asked him a few times if he was sure that he wants to get rid of all the toys, because he'll hardly have anything left. And he pointed out that he doesn't really play with them anyway. I did draw the line at giving away his legos, because even if he doesn't want them now, he may want them in the future. And his friends may want to play with them.Where did the time go? I feel like it was just last week that I was sitting on the floor with him stacking blocks. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2QoJEV8
