A parenting win I really want to crow about

My lo is 3, almost 4, and the reason her father and I broke up was because we sucked at communication. Since I've gone to therapy to try and communicate, he says that he has no problem with communication and doesn't need therapy 🙄Anyway, because I'm so new to good communication I've been really nervous about teaching my lo how to talk about feelings. We've been traveling a lot for the holidays and are starting in a hotel right now. Last night we were going to bed and she was really acting up, running around, whining, doing all the stuff we don't do at bedtime. I thought it was over excitement. But then she said "Mama this isn't my room and it's making me feel shy". We talked more about it and she explained feeling shy and before in the room and being scared of sleeping somewhere new And missing her bed at home.I held her, explained the same thing used to happen to me when I was little staying somewhere new and that it is totally ok to be afraid and how proud I was off her telling me how she was feeling. We snuggles extra and then she went to bed and went to sleep really quickly. And now, I dance!!! via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2FhqGr9
