4 month old just qualified for therapy for developmental/cognitive delays

Help this momma feel better. :(My baby was born 5 weeks early (he would be 3 1/2 months) and I mentioned to his doctor at his 4 months appointment how he didn’t really hold up his head when placed on his tummy. The doctor said she thought he was developing fine for his adjusted age, but it didn’t hurt to do a referral for early intervention. They came and assessed him last week at my house. He didn’t track the administrator’s light or respond to her bell, but he was really engaged with her face and smiling/cooing the whole time. He typically tracks objects with ease and is responsive to sounds, so I feel like it may not have been a completely accurate reflection of his abilities.I know therapy won’t hurt, though, so we are still going to do it. He tested with a 25% delay in both motor and cognitive skills.I’m a teacher and I know the importance of early intervention, but it makes me sad to think he may face hardships in these areas.Have any parents on here dealt with this? Did your babies catch up? Thanks! via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/307zwzY
