My friend came to visit my baby with hand foot and mouth and I am fuming!

I feel so bad and conflicted but a dear friend came to visit me and my new baby (6 months old) to stay for a few days with her own daughter. Turns out her daughter had hand, foot and mouth disease about a week before, and my friend herself just started having sores two days before coming! She had sores all over her face and hands when she showed up. She didn't mention it before coming. I was kind of stunned because if she had told me beforehand, I would have told her not to come (even though I was really looking forward to her visit). It's not a serious disease but seems very painful and causes fever and blisters. I don't want my 6 months old to suffer if I can help it. Moreover if she got it, my daughter would likely be excluded from daycare, which means having to take days off work, which is a huge pain for me as my husband is travelling right now, and the disease lasts up to ten days... I can't believe she was so flippant about it, especially since she has a young baby herself. I asked her not to touch the baby and tried to clean everything after her daughter, toys and stuff. But it put a strain on the visit, as I was pretty mad that she put me in the very uncomfortable position of having to be a good host while being shocked that she cared so little about my daughters well being. To make things worse I am kind of a people pleaser and have a hard time expressing negative feelings. I also felt that I couldn't possibly send her back after she showed up and didn't want to create a tensed ambiance between us by speaking up. Now she is gone and I feel very angry and terrified that my baby is going to be sick and covered in sores. Am I overreacting? Did your kids get hand foot and mouth? How bad was it? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2Ru2YMb
