Article after article of parents who regret having kids

Hello,So, I have found myself up late with my newborn trying to find articles about babies' sleeping patterns, what to expect, etc. In the midst of my searches are articles sprinkled about regarding parents who regret having kids, how parent with kids are less happy, how wanting to have kids is a selfish act, and how many parents wish they never had kids. This is unsettling. I've had kids because I want to experience this unique part of life, to experience parental love (and receive a child's love for parent), and to make the world a better place by introducing my kid to it. I believe these are worthwhile reasons to have a kid. Now, of course I should be comforted by knowing that I have good reasons for having a kid and should ignore these articles, but I am an open-minded person and have to wonder if, based on research, parents are actually less happy. I'm shaken a bit by this. I understand kids are a commitment and there is work involved, but I've always believed that the journey also has invaluable, irreplaceable joys. I also understand that many parents will not come out and say that they regret having their kids, because what an awful thing that is to say, and society does not approve of such words.Basically, is anyone aware of research that suggests that parenthood brings comparable joy to not having kids (or more), or does anyone have any unique insights about parenthood? I've searched on this topic after finding these articles, and the Internet seems empty of articles talking about how parenthood is truly a joyous, fulfilling thing (with well-reasoned arguments). Thanks for engaging my late-night insecurities. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2EXbcuV
