A friend on Facebook recently asked for advice on how to start a conversation on how to introduce/talk about menstruation to her 5-year old daughter who found her sanitary pads in the bathroom and had questions. As someone who's already started that conversation with her 3(almost 4)-year old son, who's only growing older with more questions, I'm incredibly interested why people get so weird about introducing or talking to their children about bodily functions - menstruation and masturbating, but also childbirth, sex, or how other reproductive stuff works. What do you think will happen if kids hear about this stuff? Why is this such a hard series of conversations for us?I feel the need to clarify: This is an honest question from an non-judgemental place. Please treat this as a space to explain your thought process and not be defensive about your choices really.Edit: seriously, people, can you give this question an honest chance and not downvote without commenting. This is shit that parents should talk about to figure out the best way to handle the topics, not just try and hide in the corners of parenting. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2Nd4GmG
