My kids school suddenly closed down last month, so we had to register them to another school. For the most part, 90% of their friends are also going to the new school. My 6 year old could honestly care less, as her best friend is going to this new school also. But this is ZERO consolation for my 8 year old. She doesn't want to change schools at all. She hates the new school's uniforms (and admittadly the old school's uniforms were much nicer). She doesn't want new teachers, but some of the teachers from the old school will be at this new school, including one of her favorite teachers(which I made her aware of).The new school had an orientation for the new families a couple of weeks ago, and she seemed to reconcile her feelings toward the school after she saw all of her friends, and got to look around the school. She actually seemed excited, and told me that she guesses this school will be ok. Yet here we are, school starts tomorrow and shes a bundle of anxiety again. Shes gone back to "I'm not excited, I don't want to go to a different school." I don't know what to say to make her feel better about all of it. I feel so bad for her, and I just want her to be optimistic about the change. Any advice on what I can do/ say? via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2Nc1Ezj
