I’ve been dreading the day when my very observant and curious son sees someone with a visual disability/different ability and asks what’s wrong with them/why they have a wheelchair/why their face looks like that etc. This hasn’t happened yet but I don’t want to try to distract my child so they don’t ask again, I want to address the question and ensure that I am doing so in a way that I’m not going to offend anyone and everyone feels respected and my toddler has his question answered. I’ve read articles but I feel like they are geared toward older children. Also, many of the articles address what NOT to do, but don’t give advice on what to say when your child asks the question. Maybe this question will never arise, I’m just looking for some advice on how to deal with it if it does. I don’t want to meet it with a blank stare and awkward pause. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2wNmIBJ
