My five year old son has developed abnormal dark bruising and petechiae over the last couple of days. We had him in the ER over the weekend, but all they did was take x-rays and claimed there were no broken bones. I took him to his pediatrician yesterday and she shared my concerns and ordered several blood tests - appointment today. She ordered seven tests (clotting, haptoglobin, CBC, prothrombin, etc) and said some should come back the next day and others may take a couple of days. She said she's worried about his platelet count and briefly mentioned the "Big L."He's been relatively healthy his whole life - slight seasonal allergies, a cold here or there, but nothing extreme. He has had a slight fever (99-100) on and off the past week or two with a cough, but I chalked that up to school germs and allergies.I'm sitting at work trying not to go crazy. I keep telling myself I don't have anything to worry about until the tests come back so I'm doing my best (and failing) to not think about it and to stay away from Google. I'm also scheduled to leave for a work conference next week and I'm worried that I will be out of town when all the results come back. Just a bundle of nerves over here. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2wNhOWh
