[Followup] Kids playing doctor

This is a followup for r/https://ift.tt/2MLWCcu everybody for your comments.I did meet with the girl's mother last night. She is a friend of mine; we get together for supper whenever our husbands are out of town and the kids are at a monthly church youth meeting. She (the girl's mom) is a nurse practitioner, has an MS in biology, and teaches (part-time) a health class at the kid's elementary school and is very good at talking with kids about their bodies.I told her about what I knew about the kid's activities the other day. She agreed that for a girl to show a boy the inside of her vulva is going too far. She will talk to her daughter about appropriateness and privacy. I have talked to my son (again) about the same thing. Both my son and the girl (his best friend) are very interested in science and have done experiments together (age appropriate chemistry and physics experiments), with parental supervision. Neither of us see anything wrong with this and we have no problem with the kids talking about their bodies, as long as they know that their knowledge is limited and they should talk to a parent about any question.I told her (the other mom) that she can discuss anything with my son; I have told him that he can feel free to ask the mom anything (she agreed to that). Frankly, in retrospect, although I think that for her to show him the inside of her vulva and for him to show her his penis is going too far, it is good that they are interested in their bodies and look at that part of their bodies in a more detached, scientific way.I (and the other mom) will make sure that he knows(and can pronounce) the correct terms for body parts even if in conversation he uses slang terms. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2Ng0tvg
