I am sure if my daughter wasn't born in the era of internet, modern medicine and in our kind of family, she wouldn't live to adulthood. My 1.5-year-old daughter thankfully doesn't have any serious life threatening conditions. However she had colic, silent reflux, thrush and eczema all in the first 6 months of her life. In 10 months her eczema was healed through a combination of modern and homeopathic medicine, hundreds (I am not exaggerating) hours of research on my part and experimenting with dozens of possible treatment options. Just her eczema sucked 50% of life out of me.Now she is in 3rd percentile while she was born in 87th percentile. She doesn't eat or grow. We are fighting a stomach bug and cough that just had its 4-month birthday. 5 doctor appointments later, they say she is fine. She cried more than I have seen any kid cry and my grandpa commented once "kids in our village (eastern Europe beggining of 1900's) would run around with stray dogs and eat anything you gave them". And it dawned on me "she wouldn't survive if she was one of those kids". Child mortality was almost 40% in my grandpa's age. My daughter would be in that 40%. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/33Jbr41
