Yesterday there was an incident at one of the local high schools. The district then called off school for the next day(today) and when I picked up my daughter, a coordinator informed us that they let the kids know schools out but did not give details or and explanation as to why. Now I knew before I picked her up I’d have to give her a reason why and do some explaining, I tried and I feel like I failed. I just told her that were was an emergency at the high school, something bad happened and it made everyone scared so the adults felt it best to keep kids home for a day. She accepted it but I can see it churning in her little head. I feel like she needs more answers but I have no idea how and I really don’t want her to hear something from kids at school that I didn’t even mention.... like the 2 scary words in it all. Shooting & Stabbing. If someone could pls help me figure out how to have this conversation, that would be amazing. Thanks so much for reading. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2OSDaeB
