Husband thinks it’s okay to leave the baby in the car

So we have an almost 5 month old baby. We have a heavy item that needs to be returned to the store, and I told my husband that I wouldn’t be able to carry the item and the baby. He suggested I leave the baby locked in the car while I return the item. Now, I am under the impression that it is never ok to do this, even though it’s winter. My husband thinks otherwise and decided to dig his heels in. I told him this was a deal breaker for me, and that if he chose this hill to die on, he can expect our marriage to die there as well. He then got very upset, saying I’m being ridiculous and overreacting, and asking if he has to carry the baby while pumping gas, etc. I’m shocked and upset, and cannot comprehend why he doesn’t understand the safety issue, and that even if it’s not a safety issue, it could very well get reported to CPS. I’m honestly uncomfortable having him run errands with the baby now. He told me he’s left the baby alone in the car a few times, all under five minutes, and I’m reeling. I love my husband very much, but I don’t feel like I can compromise on this issue, and tbh, we’ve been having some additional marital problems since having a baby.Am I wrong here? Am I overreacting?TL;DR Husband thinks it’s okay to leave baby in the car, I don’t, now we’re in a huge fight and I’m questioning his ability to parent. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2RnuRJa
