We’re traveling for Thanksgiving with two kids (5 and 2) and it’s exhausting to say the least. After a day of them telling each other that “No, you’re the bad guy” and “stop copying me” we stopped into a restaurant for dinner. We had the usual ordering, asking for manners and dinner time conversation. In the middle of the meal, a nice, older woman stopped by and said, “I just wanted to tell you your kids are great.” I said a stunned “thank you” and was on cloud nine the rest of the night. It made me realize that I’d been so focused on trying to get them not to be too loud, not to fight with each other, not to spill food all over themselves while they eat, that I wasn’t taking time to notice that they were actually pretty good kids, super cute and full of joy...like when I asked my youngest what he wanted and he went through the entire menu pointing at every picture while gleefully saying “and that and that and that...”So thank you stranger lady for helping me appreciate the little moments after a tiring day. I hope to pay it forward to other exhausted parents in the future! via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2rMrv7C
