Do you make your children play with kids they don’t want to play with?

We live in a great neighborhood with a ton of kids. There’s one kid in particular that my son doesn’t really like to be around. My son doesn’t have any problems with any other kids in the area, just this one. Is it bad parenting to say he doesn’t have to play with him if he doesn’t want to? What can he tell this kid when he asks to play without being unkind?EDIT: we’ve explained to our son that he needs to make a choice if this kid comes around the group: either play kindly or come home. He understood. It’s not uncommon that the other kids don’t really want to play with this kid either. This kids mom asked me last night why my son doesn’t want to play with hers and I didn’t really know what to say. Our house is basically “home base” where these kids play at the most so I see and hear everything. I don’t know what to do. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2FJW2qQ
