So Friday night, I went out with my friend and my step daughter (5) melted my heart as I was leaving.

My boyfriend and I have been together for a year and a half and living together for 8 months now. We get her most weekends as she lives with her mom most of the time. This past Friday night was the first time I went out with a friend while we have her.Her bedroom window is faced to the parking lot and I usually park right in front of the window. She was just getting into bed as I was leaving. I started my car and started to pull out of my spot when I looked up in the window and saw her waving at me. So I rolled down my window and waved back and she yells “I love you!” I yelled it back as loud as I could to make sure she heard me.I feel like I’m doing a good job at this step parent thing. I was never much of a kid person, I’m still not. I only really have a special connection with her.
