My 13 year old daughter always talks about how “she’s not like other girls”She says things like she’s not like other girls she is better friends with the boys at her school, she’s into sports and doesn’t care about wearing makeup and other similar comments, but then will put on a dress and lipstick to go out to a nice dinner, curls her eyelashes, and likes to get her nails painted. She is always talking about herself almost like she’s bragging and a few other family members have noticed and brought it up to me.I’m not sure how to handle this or if it’s a big deal. I worried about why she always has to say these things. I feel like she’s very insecure with who she is and I don’t know how to help her. It’s almost like she talks so much of herself to feel reassured that she is amazing and beautiful and special in her own way. Am I just paranoid?, is she just a normal teen or should I try to talk to her about it. via /r/Parenting http://bit.ly/2KnFHLN
