This is in response to a thread yesterday about a little boy who wasn't invited to a party. It became obvious the OP wasn't looking for any real advice despite asking for it and some of the comments were flat out weird. Name calling the other child, suggesting throwing a party for the uninvited kid, and getting outraged that the kid was allowed to hand out invitations in person.Listen....I have two teens and a preteen. When they were little we didn't have rules about handing out invitations. Sometimes they weren't invited to parties. Guess what happened as a result? Nothing. Slight disappointment, an explaination that people can invited whoever the fuck they want for whatever reason they want, and they got over it. I guess the only thing that happened was it taught them that they aren't the center of the universe and not everyone will invite them to parties. Middle school and high school can be rough. Don't make it harder by setting up your kids with unrealistic expectations. via /r/Parenting http://bit.ly/2wxam15
