Hi Everyone,My child is 6 year old and attends pre-school. A boy in her class has autism. I don't know if it's relevant or not. He's non-verbal but I don't know any other details. A few weeks ago, she was playing with some blocks, next to the boy. The boy, upset at something other than my daughter, began to scratch at her face. He left a big and deep scratch on her forehead and beneath her eye that hasn't healed yet. Everyone was in agreement that the scratches were unprovoked. We spoke with the teachers and we were told that a meeting was held with the principal, the teachers and the educational assistant.Fast forward to yesterday. She came home with another set of scratches on her face. She was playing on the play structure and he started to scratch at her face, although his intent was to be playful. He left deep scratches under her nose. She told a teacher but this time, we weren't contacted. I sent another email to the school but I feel more action is required.I would like to be sensitive and understanding of how difficult it is to raise a child with autism and to integrate and include them in the school. However, I feel like my child shouldn't be subjected to physical harm at school. Should I ask to separate them when they're at school? Should I ask my child to distance herself from him? I am almost at a loss and I don't know what's appropriate. I would like to be an advocate for my child and I feel like I am holding back because of the situation. via /r/Parenting http://bit.ly/2WgVj6R
