Going to School and Step-Parent Appreciation!

I wanted to make a quick thread about children and their step-parents, how they can often go unappreciated or unthanked for their efforts. My wife (step-mother to some of our kids) has been nothing but terrific for our son's introduction to school. She's made sure all of his clothes are freshly cleaned and ironed -- they even went out to the store just before school started and she helped him pick out his styling duds, which was a real confidence booster for him along with a new haircut -- packs his food (making sure to sneak in a few treats he loves) in a neat little lunchbox, making sure all of the ice packs are frozen and ready to go. They talk about school together and go over every little detail; his new friends, the music room, recess and anything else his racing brain can remember!I think she's truly an amazing woman who has made his transition into "big kid" school all the more enjoyable and as stress-free as possible, just by being there! So far all you caring step-parents out there (especially those going through less than amicable family scenarios...), I think you deserve a big thank you, at the very least! It's a tough job and a hard position to be in at times, but judging by the faces of those smiling children, just remember how important you are in their lives -- how important you are to the children -- and what a big role you will continue to be in their lives during these formative years! via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2wUyDyF
