From the time I take her upstairs to wash up and get ready for bed to the time I actually leave her in bed on her own, I’ve spent well over an hour. A lot of it is enjoyable for us both... she absolutely adores reading so we do spend a LOT of time on that. But after an hour I’ve had about enough... I’m tired, I’m aching, I need to squeeze something out of the one hour I have each day that’s really my own time after she goes to sleep. I’m just wondering if other parents have to spend so long on the bedtime routine... if I try to shorten it by limiting it to two books and then lights out, it backfires and she throws an epic tantrum that does not stop until I return and then have to do damage control to calm her down. She was a not very great sleeper as a baby so I am willing to accept this bedtime “battle” now because it’s better than what we used to deal with. Also, parents of slightly older kids, does the bedtime routine get shorter/easier? When? Thanks via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2LnyUi4
