Parents, if your child was bullied in school, what did you do about it and are you still dealing with it?

My son keeps getting bullied by this kid at school and yesterday he came home and told me the kid punched him in the face. His eye was a little brused. I called the school and they told me what happened and said that the boy will be punished. This is not the first time this kid has put his hands on my child. I'm trying to figure out what my next steps should be. My son isn't the only one that the boy picks on.
