Part of the US public records disclosure law requires public schools to hand over any directory information they have, to anyone who asks them for it. They're required to give you the chance to opt out of this practice and the time-frame you're given to do so.I've been getting bombarded by calls and emails from a political group telling me how to vote in an upcoming election only to find it was the school who gave them all my personal contact info. Looks like my district only gives you 2 weeks from the start of school to opt out, so I'll put it on the calendar for next year.EDIT** FERPA guidelines(see blue boxes): http://ift.tt/2zprRAW via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2yfnnvz
