A fight I'm proud of.

That's weird to type but here we are. Yesterday I had the kids at child care in the gym. A little guy got mad at my 7yo son and tried to hit him. My little guy can be a hothead so when staff told me that I braced for the worst. I was SO surprised. They said my boy ducked the punch and took him down (he wrestles) and sat on him, holding his hands until the guy calmed down. My son threw zero punches and ended up getting in no trouble. BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE After the kid calmed down, my son got up and went straight to the teachers to tell what happened, and as he turned his back the other kid got up and went to sucker punch him from behind. At that point my 9yo sweet, shy daughter tied him up from behind and took him back down (she does judo). SHE refused to get off and kept him pancaked to the ground while my boy got the teacher. I'm super proud that they showed such restraint. I'm proud they had each other's backs. I'm proud of my very shy daughter for sticking I'm super UNHAPPY that all this happened and no teacher saw it and intervened but that's another story.Side note: grappling martial arts (judo, jiu jitsu, wrestling) are amazing for building these skills and I'm thrilled my kids had the ability to do what they did, and so non-violently.Just thought I'd share. Proud papa moment. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2tVf6dT
