Attachment Disorder (Update)

Hello everyone.OP: http://ift.tt/2syTT8G posted here about a week and a half ago asking about attachment disorder in my 4 year old son. I met him at 18 months old and received full custody in September of last year. His mom struggled with caring for him and he was in his grandmother's care until I got custody. His grandma has refused visitation since he's been with me.It's been tough for him and I was concerned about attachment disorder after his babysitter brought it to my attention. I reached out to Reddit and then was able to get him a visit with a therapist. The therapist said that he doesn't have full blown attachment disorder, but she said that he is showing signs of insecure attachment. Given his history, she said that this isn't that uncommon. He apparently dealt with some health issues in infancy as well. That combined with neglect from his mom and losing his grandmother made insecure attachment a strong possibility. She gave us some tips on things to try at home and told me to consider further therapy sessions if I don't see any improvement. She didn't believe that his particular case was strong enough to make therapy necessary, but it wouldn't hurt if we decided to go in that direction. I currently doing a lot of reading about attachment with older kids and hope that we can work this out. He's such an awesome little dude and deserves the best.I just wanted to thank everyone who read and commented. It means a lot. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2qQnrxd
