I tried using the search bar to find similar posts on this, but wasn't really able to find them.My oldest son is just now in Kindergarten so he's a long way off of being able to stay home alone, and my husband and I are struggling to plan where the kids will go for summer, breaks, half days, random days off of school. Our school has an aftercare service that we use for after school days until we get off of work, but looking at their calendar for spring, winter and summer breaks along with early dismissals and random days off, we aren't sure how other full time working parents do it!We plan on having them attend summer camp at our local YMCA which take care of the big break, but are there alternatives to us having to use PTO and sick days for their scheduled school closings? The spring (Easter) and winter (Christmas) break are the worst as they are the longest stretch of days off in a row and I don't see it being feasible for us to take off all those days and also saving for sick days as needed throughout the year (for us when we are sick and to stay when the kids are sick). Both my husband and I have parents that all still work full time and our retired family members are in no condition to watch kids. Our sitters we use all either attend school or work during the day.To kind of tag onto this, I remember my mom allowing me to stay home with a friend after school (alone with no parents) around 3rd or 4th grade and I don't remember when I was allowed to stay home for a full day (or week long break) by myself. What age do you usually feel it's appropriate for these milestones?Any advise or help is appreciated. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2hdCYmk
