How do you explain 'God' when you aren't religous?

Growing up I went to church every week. Eventually stopped going because I hated it. When I got older I had different views.Anyways my six year old was at school and someone was talking about God and being the creator, etc etc and my son that it was hilarious because I never talked to him about it before.I told him how there are people and different religions that believe in a God and believe he is the creator of the world. I said they pray to him, worship him, thank him for the things he's done. And that was it.He probably still doesn't fully understand it. I also don't really want to bring him to church and put him through the whole spiel. At the same time our dog died a couple years ago and told him he's in heaven.Ideally I'd like to explain things to him that aren't confusing and he understands. Obviously I'd like for him to make his own decision, but when we don't go to church or talk about God, obviously his decision is pretty much being made for him. And like I said if I bring him to church he will pretty much be 'sold' on that theory so it's not reallya bout him making his own decision there either. Thanks for the help. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2fVWTbs
