So yesterday my 5 almost 6 year old daughter was sick. She's got a rare disease, that makes her being sick a big deal. So i called her pediatricians office to talk to them about what we can do to avoid the ER. She just needs iv fluids. They tell me they can do that procedure in the office. We go in, talk to the Dr, and he tells them to only try twice ( bc of dehydration, her veins blowout almost always). The nurse does the first attempt in her forehead! It was very traumatic, and painful for my daughter. The second attempt is in the hand, and it blows out as well. So we go to outpatient at the hospital (which i didn't even know was an option), and everything goes extremely smoothly. They even numb her arm before trying the iv, she had no pain. As we were leaving, the nurse at the hospital told me that they were going to call my dr about what happened to my daughter, because they shouldn't have even tried to do that in her head. I'm feeling so much guilt over this. I shouldn't have let them do it. But i honestly thought because they are professionals in the medical field they know better. I just can't stop feeling horrible about it. I want to contact the Dr and speak with him about it. I really like him and I'm not trying to get anyone in trouble, but i think something needs to be said from me as well. He wasn't in the room when it was going on. Thanks for listening to my rant. via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2gXf67y
