Strong willed first grader getting in trouble at school almost everyday. We are at our wits end.

Our daughter just started first grade and this is her third week. Yesterday she came home with a note that stated that she didn't follow directions all day. Previously it has been for talking too much during class or in the halls. I know that she knows to listen and follow directions but she is an extremely stubborn kid. We have taken away her toys, any TV privileges and threatened to cancel her 7th birthday party. And as punishment, we made her write her fifteen spelling words twenty times each. We don't know how to get to her. We don't want her to end up being the problem student that is always in trouble. Teachers end up labeling them and the end up living up to that label.She is a smart kid but she is stubborn and strong willed.
