So we are expecting some visitors so it’s the dreaded pick up the house before they get here scramble. My wife tasked me with helping the girls (4.5 & 2) pickup the living room. Usually this tasks involves lots of me yelling and running around pointing out each individual item in the floor, because apparently kids are blind and will walk right over something and not pick it up.Well the other day we were playing with a lazer pointer calling the red dot a bug, and they were chasing it around the room pretending to step on it or eat it then spit it out (while I turned the lazer off while it was in their mouth or under something.)This gave me a brilliant idea today. I went and got the ‘bug’ and sat on the couch and had them chase the ‘bug’ around the living room. Anytime the ‘bug’ hid under something on the floor, they had to pick it up and put it away. If they didn’t remember where something went, the ‘bug’ would run over and show them.Got the whole living room picked up, without me getting up from the couch, yelling, or having someone start crying. I’ll mark this one down as a win! The ‘bug’ just might me making many more appearances when it’s time to clean up.Just thought I’d share this one if anyone else needed something fun to do during clean up time. You can buy a lazer pointer from dollar tree for $1.00 via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2vXKYlh
