Budgies broke our toddler

This post is a warning to anyone thinking of taking their toddlers to the zoo.We have a zoo membership, and one of the attractions is an interactive Budgie habitat. You can buy budgie "feed sticks" at the front gate, and they will land right on your arms (and everywhere else) to feed on the sticks. Depending on the kid, the experience is either:The ultimate Disney fantasyA colorful version of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds)Our 18-month old loves critters, so she fell in love with it immediately. When the budgies saw the feed sticks in our hands, they descended on us like locusts- to the delight of our toddler, who would squeal with glee as they clamored all over her. I took a few minutes of footage- partly because it was cute, and partly because the police may need evidence if (when?) the budgies devoured us.After leaving the exhibit, our toddler was enthralled. For the rest of the trip, she talked about the budgies as much as she could with her baby/toddler vocabulary. "Bébé feed budgie. BEbE feed BUDGIE!!" All along the ride home: "BUhDGIE BuDGie BUDGIE g0ats BUDGIE"The problems started the next morning, when she woke up at 4:30AM (hooray for sleep regressions). I went in to settle her back to sleep, and she was muttering to herself: "BudGie... BuDgIe... fEEd budGIE..."After finishing breakfast, she looked at me and my wife and said: "Bébé gO fEEd BUDGIE!"When she wakes up from her nap: "Bébé...feed budgie."Whenever she has a Budgie episode, I found some success in treating it with a few minutes of Budgie footage on loop. I'm not sure how long the symptoms are supposed to last though. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2BxKzeo
