Active shooter drills.

My daughter (5) is going to school for the first time. We live in Florida, and this week they have been drilling for active shooters. This includes helping the teacher barricade the door and pick up heavy objects to throw at the "bad guy." I know it's good that they're practicing what to do in the event of an active shooter scenario, but it makes me so sad. I hate that people are so fucked up that this is now part of my daughters curriculum. I don't want to get into politics, I just want to vent about how sad it is that my school board would rather expect my kindergartener to pick up books and blocks to throw at armed assailants rather than pay the Sherrif's office for a few extra SRO's. What a world we live in. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2LlhF0A
