I have having an Easter Egg hunt at my house tomorrow. My husband picked up the candy because he saw a sale. The issue is he got two packages of variety pack and both have some candy with nuts. They are wrapped. We have one little girl coming who has a nut allergy. I told him to pick up a package of nut free candy for her to be safe. He thinks that since the candy is wrapped it is fine. I worry that if something with nuts, like the peanut butter cups, could open slightly (sometimes the foil gets peeled back a bit) and that it it touches another draper and the kid handles that wrapper, it could be an issue. It may be a little cautious, but I don't want to make anyone sick. Some kids may be fine, but I have no clue how severe the allergy is, and frankly, I don't want to risk it. This child's mom is already so protective that the kid hardly interacts with people because she won't leave her mom. I don't want to risk even a mild reaction. My husband is getting the candy, but he thinks I am being a bit unreasonable. I have super bad food allergies to certain foods and just being in a room with them is enough to make me break out or have to leave. I had to quit a job because just serving seafood but me into anaphylaxis. He was there when it happened! My thing is it is best to make things as safe as reasonably possible, especially since these kids are all 5 and under and may not be able to monitor themselves as well as they could of they were older. What do you guys think?Edit: my auto correct changed nut to bit in the title. I have no idea why, lol. via /r/Parenting https://ift.tt/2DQJYjN
