Walrus obsession in 2 yr old....

So our daughter at 28 months is extremely verbal. In past 3 weeks has developed an obsession with walruses, stemming from a discussion with her great aunt in which walruses were Googled and observed on my aunt's phone. We also saw three actual walruses in October at a zoo and she was a little scared then but didn't start talking about them until lately.Since then, at bedtime, when she wakes in the morning, and sometimes during the night, she is asking about the walruses. They are "a little bit scary" and she's worried about them "getting" her. I have always encouraged her talking about things/experiences/accidents as opposed to distracting or minimizing and try to be as calm and matter of fact as possible- "walruses live pretty far away, we won't see any here" and "walruses eat clams, there aren't clams on our beach " Etc etc.I am seeing the walrus thing kind of take on a dramatic aspect and thinking she's getting a type of attention around the walrus thing that's maybe edgier, more interesting? Wondering how others deal with kids' preoccupations with monsters, ghosts, walruses... especially a kid who is two and while very verbal definitely not logical or emotionally mature.TL;DR toddler obsessed with scary walruses, how much is too much/how to handle this? via /r/Parenting http://ift.tt/2CPMMyO
